Love this- reminds me of how little media my sister and I had growing up, so the media we did was so special! My grandpa had all of pinks albums so we were raised with her in a way haha

That's such a great memory. Music or film stuff like that can really hit you when you're young and your brain is super receptive. I saw the Subterranean Homesick Blues film with the cardboard signs when I was kid and thought Dylan was the coolest person ever.. (way back in the days when the family tv was a small black & white thing!).

Thanks! I’m working through some issues and I’ve been stumbling across memories such as yours. I’m changing as I remember who I used to be.

Thank you Leal for reigniting my

Brain. I had a similar reaction to Microsoft's "Music Central" (1996). Spend many, many hours with that CD ROM. Though I was quite a bit older than you, it was an important experience. Thank you for a trip down Memory Lane.

ha that's cool. Yeah I often wonder about that too. Those kind of influences that are outside the kind usual (hey my first record that I bought was My Bloody Valentine or whatever) I'd say MTV coming onto Irish TV or our version MT USA. Was probably a bigger influence on me than say Fugazi or the Ramones or Thin Lizzy or some of these ones always cited (including Joni etc.) as you mentioned. Also just the top 40 in the late 80s and early 90s on the radio ..I remember getting a pair of bright yellow 'radio' headphones with a big aerial as a present and thinking this was it! (they were battery operated and completely wireless).. I have a very clear memory of being in the back of my parents Vw beetle with them on listening to Lionel Richie's' Dancing on the ceiling full blast :P I do remember that CD-Rom too. I think those headphones might of been my CD-Rom, my ears windows. :P

A very early musical memory of mine was hearing Little Boxes sung by Pete Seeger at one of his Tanglewood sing-alongs. While I liked Garbage, another song he sang, Little Boxes message of nonconformity was loud and clear!
