My favorite book as a child was called The Carrot Seed. The story is about a little boy who planted a carrot seed. He tended it for days and days, but no carrot came up and and his whole family said over and over, “it won’t come up, it won’t come up”. But despite his detractors, the little boy continued to weed the dirt and sprinkle the ground with water. When suddenly, one day, a giant carrot came up “just as the little boy had known it would.”
Loved this song since I first heard you play it live and I'm glad I can finally revisit it ... it's like a magic trick how you transformed a mundane W9 form into something much more profound. I had to go to work right out of high school and totally relate on the dread of having to simply pay the bills... every time I work on a project that will never be for sale -- that's freedom.
It’s not the destination but the journey that brings us wisdom and joy. Take it from a 71 year old creative that once you stop believing in the journey, you die.
Your success resonates deeply! You've earned every bit of it.
I'm walking a similar path - showing up daily, creating, iterating. In today's globally connected world, excellence isn't optional. But here's what Corporate America never taught me: true resilience and grit can be cultivated. In the corporate maze of shifting strategies and endless reorgs, I never got to test my full creative endurance.
This creative journey, though harder, reveals something precious: we're capable of so much more than we think. And that realization alone is worth every uncertain step.
I love your voice and the song!! The written words resonate with me so much as I’ve had to have “day jobs” to make art. Art commissions don’t count. I agree with Quincy, I’m never inspired by how something will sell.
Keep making beautiful music for this mixed up world!
Really needed to read this today, thank you!

Thanks, Jason ! I thought of you when I was writing this :)
A ‘contribution to somebody else’s garden’ is an absolutely lovely way to put it. 🌿

Beautifully written, and an important reminder. I wish growth and strength for your carrot seed, that it blooms into a mighty root. Cheers.
:) Thank you!!
I love this sound. Reminds me of Reverend Baron.
